Channel/Device URIs

Channel/Device URIs

When groups of people are working on instances of Connexion, it can be useful to directly reference a channel and/or device (instead of sending information about groups, tabs, channel names etc.). For example, it may be useful to email a collegue about a problems with a specific channel and simply include a URI for that channel.

You can generate a device URI by right-clicking on the device and choosing the copy item followed by ‘device uri’:

A device uri appears as follows: cxn://NICKWORK-PC:8091/97bf726028cd44389c1fd19dd9859b3a

The hostname is the name of the server, followed by the device key of the target device. You can paste this uri into the windows start-> run textbox to automatically launch the connexion UI to the target device. Other programs may recognize device uris and allow the automatic launch of the connexion client as well (although Outlook currently does not).
