The Documentation device
The Documentation device allows you to add notes via the Rich Text editor or attachments to the channel. This documentation is informational only and is not processed with the rest of the channel messages.
This device used to be found on the System toolbar.
The upper panel of the UI lists all of the documentation attached to the channel. Click on a documentation item to see the full text in the lower panel.
Adding a note
You can add documentation directly in Connexion by using the Rich Text editor.
To add a new note:
- Select the Documentation device.
- Click the Add new note icon. The timestamp and author are populated automatically.
- Add an optional description by double-clicking in the Description column.
- In the lower editor pane, type the note. You can apply formatting such as bold, italic, underline, bullets, and paragraph indents using the editor toolbar.
The note is saved automatically.
Adding an attachment
You can add attachment files to your documentation note. These could be text files, graphics, or other files.
To add an attachment:
- Add a new note or select an existing one in the list.
- Click the Add attachments button on the toolbar.
- Navigate to the location of the attachment file and click Open.
The attachment is displayed below the list of notes. Double-click on the attachment to open it for viewing.
Editing a note
To edit an existing note:
- Select the note in the list on the Documentation device.
- Edit the contents of the note in the Rich Text editor.
The note will be saved automatically.
Deleting a note
To delete a note:
- Select the note you want to delete.
- Click the Delete Selected Note button on the toolbar.
- Confirm the deletion.
