Resolve install Error 5460 [InstallTasksVM] Task exception: Create Connexion X509 Certificates

If you receive an Error 5640 during install, it is probably due to an invalid X509 certificate. We see this when a Virtual Machine (VM) that previously had a copy of Connexion installed, has been cloned.

Step-by-step guide

  1. If you are on Windows 8.1 or higher search for "Manage computer certificates" and you can skip steps (2)-(7) below.
  2. Open and administrative command prompt and run the following command:
    mmc.exe

Note: If you do not run the certmgr.msc from an administrative command prompt, you will not find the required certificate key.

  3. Select "Add/Remove Snap In.." from the "File" menu
  4. Find the "Certificates" snap in. This is the 3 item down in my list
  5. Select the "Certificates" snap in and click the "Add" button.
  6. A dialog will pop up. Choose "Computer account"
  7. A second dialog will pop up. Choose "Local Computer..."
  8. Navigate to the folder: Personal/Certificates
  9. Delete the certificate "ConnexionV14" by right-clicking on the certificate an selecting "Delete"
  10. Re-run the Connexion InstallWizard.exe application
